Annual Holiday Fun in San Angelo
Here’s fun things you can do in San Angelo during the holiday season. I can’t see the future, but the trhee events I’m mentioning in this post happened each year while we were stationed here. Hopefully the fun will continue for years to come! You can click on the titles to visit the websites and learn more about each event.
Christmas at Old Fort Concho
We attended our first year here and bad weather kept us away last year. I am really hoping the boys and I can get there this year. It’ll be our last since leave in December. This year the event is happening on Dec 5th-7th. There are so many things to see and do there too! Fun for the whole family. Admission is daily or you can purchase a weekend pass. There are also events you can pay to attend, Aramis has participated in the Boot Camp. Children get to enlist as a soldier of the past. They learn to march and drill by direction of Buffalo Soldiers. It’s pretty cool and they get a neat souvenir of the hat and their certificate of enlistment. Aramis really enjoyed it. I didn’t get to take many pictures because we rushed out of there to the hubs Christmas party. I’m excited to go this year. I’ll have an awesome Wordless Wednesday post with pics this year. Unless old man winter gets the best of it again..
Daily Admission
-
Adults $7.00 ($5.00 Military & Seniors)
- Children $3.00 (7-17 years of age) 6 & under are free
Concho Christmas Celebration
If you want to really get into the Christmas spirit, load the kids and head out to the Concho Christmas Celebration along the Concho River. The 2.5 mile drive used to be a walking tour, but has grown so much that it’s now a holiday tradition for many families to enjoy from their vehicles. The donation suggestion is $5 per vehicle. This year (2014) it’ll run Friday, December 5th and will run every night through Wednesday, December 31st.
Make sure to make the drive thru!
Truly an impressive drive!
Santa Rita Christmas Shadow boxes
My friend Monique told me about these shadow boxes in the Santa Rita neighborhood. So we loaded up the kids to check them out one evening. It was very cute to see the boxes depicting the Christmas story. We drove along it but some people walked along with their kids to read the passages on each box. On the way to the Shadow boxes you can enjoy the beautifully lit houses along the drive. Santa Rita is a beautiful neighborhood.
Some of the photos I took.. sorry they are blurry.. they were taken with my iPhone 🙁
