I absolutely LOVE being a part of the Directors Panel for DVD.com! The hubs came home last week and one of our favorite things to do is watch movies together! As part of the panel, this is also my disclosure: I received a subscription to DVD.com and will be receiving movies in exchange for my participation. We took some time and added some films to our que and cannot wait to hang together and watch movies. This is the DVD.com Director weekend movie report numero 2. This week I’m sharing the two movies we enjoyed this weekend. Hacksaw Ridge and Manchester By The Sea.
Hacksaw Ridge
I actually shared this movie with you all before it’s premiere. A few of my colleauges did a prescreening and couldn’t say enough about it. The hubs and I LOVE movies based on real military history and the story of Desmond Doss was one that we are so glad was turned into a movie. Private Doss’ sacrifice will always be remembered and if you are fan of military films add it to your queue now! Mel Gibson did an amazing job on this film.

Based on a true story, this World War II drama focuses on Desmond T. Doss, a conscientious objector who becomes a hero while serving as an unarmed medic during the brutal and bloody fight for Okinawa. Cast: Andrew Garfield, Sam Worthington, Luke Bracey
Manchester By The Sea
This film was highly acclaimed so with Casey Affleck’s Golden Globe and the Academy Award wins I had high hopes for it. While it started off pretty slow for my taste, the overall story was pretty good. Casey Affleck put on an amazing performance as did Michelle Williams. I’d like to hear you thoughts on Manchest by the Sea.

While working as a handyman in Boston, taciturn loner Lee Chandler gets word that his brother Joe has died of a coronary. After returning to the siblings’ hometown, Lee receives another shock: He’s been named legal guardian of Joe’s 16-year-old son. Cast: Casey Affleck, Michelle Williams, Kyle Chandler.
I really liked Manchester by the Sea!
I love movies based on real life. I realize some things are exaggerated, but I like that it is more true than not.
We have recently watched both of these movies and they are amazing. Hacksaw Ridge was such a good story and based on a true one.
I love all kinds of movies depends on my mood im in in the moment i gotta say action/comedy is my favorite
