SpouseBuzz came to GoodFellow

Remember last week’s Wordless Wednesday? I mentioned SpouseBuzz came to Goodfellow. It’s a couple weeks late, but here’s my post on it!

I received an email from our FRG leader announcing a few events that would be happening on base; I skimmed thru the email and I saw Military.com’s SpouseBuzz coming to GoodFellow! I was actually in the car with my friend Leanne and she tells me, “You have to go to this!”  She was unable to attend unfortunately- but I was totally there!

I love attending these type of events. I say events, like I’ve gone to so many- in reality I’ve only attended a couple. Even so, any type of event that I can share with my fellow military spouses is a good time to me! Each of us goes thru different things in our military families and when we can come together for a day or a few hours to just take it easy is a treat!

Military.com selects a few installations a year to host the SpouseBuzz event; this year GoodFellow AFB was on the list. How exciting I thought, Goodfellow is in the middle of nowhere and they are coming here! Yay!

I wasn’t sure what to expect, I’d never attended an event hosted by Military.com. I know and have been a member of the website for many years now. The event was sponsored by USAA. If you have any military in you, you know what USAA is. If you don’t check out their site : www.USAA.com. Joseph Montanaro gave an awesome session on finances. Def brought more insight; how we should be managing our money and the importance of planning for the future with the Thrift Savings Plan. 

The fun started at 10am with the funny and amazing Jacey Eckhart. She was so much fun. You can tell she truly loves what she does and loves being affiliated with the military. Jacey was raised an Air Force brat, she is a Navy wife, she’s an Army mom and she’s looking for a “good tall Marine for her daughter“. LOL The last part is a joke, I think! LOL 

Terry Howell also spoke to us. Terry is the Managing Editor for Military.com and is author of the book Military Advantage. This book is incredible! It is actually updated annually with information for active duty and veteran benefits available. I am getting so much information from this book. I’m so thankful for the copy.

Overall the event got two thumbs up from me! My amazing friend Monique stayed with mister Ezra while mommy had some spouse time with my dear friends from Alpha Company. I don’t know why- but we didn’t take a group pic.. How about that? And in sweepstakes fashion I came out a winner.. who would have thunk it right?! Periodcally they awarded Amazon gift cards for answering questions or having the winning ticket. Yep- I won a gift certificate!!  At the end of the event USAA also gave away some very cool swag, 2 mini iPads, and iPod shuffle and some beautiful jewelry. Would you believe it:

 Yep- heifer won an iPod shuffle! YAY!!!  *I’ll be writing a post on heifer soon.. it’s an inside joke LOL*
