I don’t know about you, but I’m sad. Some is on a personal level, but mostly I feel it’s what’s going on. I’ve been hesistant to write anything about the election because I’ve seen how ugly it’s gotten online. People getting unfriended for their personal beliefs, people getting called out for how they voted, or words getting taken out of context and a war of words erupting. It’s ugly and I don’t want any part of it. I’m hopeful that we can move forward and get along. We have to right? I’m truly hopeful.
Is it just me or do you dread logging into Facebook? I know what you’re thinking.. Well if it bothers you so much, don’t get on Facebook,” or maybe you’re saying.. “If it bothers you so much, do something about it.” Both are valid thoughts that I’ve had myself. And there’s no doubt that I’ve stayed away from Facebook a lot lately. And I’ve also had the times where I think to myself, “What can I do to be a part of the solution?” Because there has to be a solution right? I’m truly hopeful.
If you’ve been here awhile you know I never share anything political or religious, because if there’s one I learned very early on is that you don’t discuss politics and religion. On a personal level I would totally do it, but even then there are only a handful of people that I would do that with anyways. I have my opinions but for the most part I’m totally Switzerland, aka neutral. I understand the good and the bad and we can talk about it, but I’m not going to argue with you.
The goal of Candypolooza is to “share the fun…” What’s going on now is not fun, it’s scary and sad. But I know in my heart that we have to remain hopeful. There’s always going to be someone to hurt your feelings and make you feel joy, we as a society cannot escape that. It’s not always going to be balloons, butterflies and warm fuzzies. It’s just not. But we can’t just loose hope either.
I’m not going to condem you for voting one way or another, I’m going to thank you for being a part of the process. I don’t care what party affiliation you have because honestly it’s none of my business. But I will say that we need to agree to disagree and show unity. I’m hopeful for our nation, our military and everyone that lives in the United States. The rainbow of hope will come thru my friends.
I’ve searched the interwebs for some inspiring quotes on hope. Here’s a few I pulled from TheQuoteGarden.
God puts rainbows in the clouds so that each of us — in the dreariest and most dreaded moments — can see a possibility of hope. ~Maya Angelou
The birds of hope are everywhere, listen to them sing. ~Terri Guillemets
“Hope” is the thing with feathers –
That perches in the soul –
And sings the tune without the words –
And never stops – at all….
~Emily Dickinson, c.1861
Have you been feeling this way too? Don’t want to share anything for fear of retribution? or shame? Even though I didn’t want to write anything about it I think it’s been helpful for me.
This little blog can’t move a mountain but I can help you deal with the ugliness going around. I invite you to leave a comment and get the burden off of your heart. You’re in the tree of trust here or send me an email at [email protected] if you want me to read it just hit send. If you’d rather just put it down in words and don’t want me to read it put DON’T READ in the subject. This blog is my outlet and the email or comment can be yours. We can support each other to move forward in positivity.
I have to add that I feel so much better after writing this. It wasn’t a rant or a meh.. type post because I’m not angry. I’m just sad.
Lots of love for you,
Candy

Very well said, Candy. I’ve tried hard to avoid the ugliness on Facebook and elsewhere. I think a person is so much more than who they voted for. It saddens me to see the many relationships that have ended over politics.
