The holidays are upon us! Many would call them the holidays of over indulgence, but I think the amazing food we will have to share among family and friends is just one of the added benefits of the holidays. It’s not necessarily the main dishes that I look forward to, I love a good side dish! I was contacted and asked if I would be interested in writing up a post about Allens canned veggies that can be found at Commissaries nationwide. I obliged!
It’s time to:
Bring Allens to Your Holiday Table
To be honest I normally don’t pay attention to all of the brands in the shelves at the commissary. For that I am grateful to this opportunity. I realized there were so many different kinds of veggies that Allens has. Some are seasoned and some are canned plain. I normally don’t go with seasoned products but decided the Collard Greens looked delicious on the outside and was very excited to try them.
The directions were very simple. Since the product is already seasoned I didn’t want to add anything since it was my first time to try it and I wanted to be able to taste the Allens Seasoned Collard Greens. Late I will use the Allens website for Recipes, and get more creative as to what else I can use the Allens Seasoned Collard Greens in. Right now you can find delicious holiday recipes you can use other Allens products in.
I don’t really care for spicy, but there was a wonderful taste in the Allens Seasoned Collard Greens. I even noticed little specks of red pepper flakes in the pan. I have to admit, I’ve made collard greens from the raw greens and to be completely honest all that work compared to opening up a can.. I think I’ll be using Allens Seasoned Collard Greens from now on! They were delicious and I’m excited to have them on our table this holiday season. We always have greens on New Years Day for luck!
