Let’s get exploring! One of the things we enjoy as a family is going on day trips or mini-vacations when we can get away. While in New Braunfels during Spring Break we were able to break away and go exploring the Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch in San Antonio!
We had such a great time! I have wanted to go to the Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch for a very long time, maybe since I was a kid?! Being from Texas we traveled around San Antonio as a child and I would see the billboards and always wanted to go check it out. I’m so excited the hubs and the boys were game so we headed there. Here’s some highlights from our visit.
After you pay admission *see the price information below, you can go into the Safari Camp Grill and restroom area. The “safari” takes a good while, I think depending on the crowd it could take over an hour to go thru the whole park. That being said, stop by the potty and make a pit stop before going in. Inside of the shop there is a cafe were you can get snacks for yourselves and buy food to feed the animals during the safari! Ooh yeah!! You know we bought some food for the animals! I was stoked!! We also found a penny machine!! The hubs has taken to collect pennies, he’s got several books filled already. Anytime we go to a park or any tourism type place we look for the pressed penny machine. He got his pennies, I got the animal food!
There is also a very cute Petting Barnyard petting zoo outside of the cafe area. Make sure and go love on some cute goats! You know we did! And check out the Walk-A-Bout area too! You’ll see a giraffe and Lemurs. I didn’t get to snap any pictures because it was raining.
Bring on the Safari pictures
The safari area was beautiful! Along with seeing the animals, you will enjoy the drive around too.
You can tell the animals know the drill now. Some come right on up to your car if you show any hint of having food for them. Check out that white horned animal, his cheeks were full of food!
My only concern when it came to feeding the animals was the danger of the animals ingesting anything other than the food. There was an instance when some girls were just throwing a bag at one of the ostriches.. Luckily the bag did not get stuck on the animal’s head but there was a chance it could have happened. I’m a worry wart I guess. Please don’t feed them from the bag! Let’s follow directions and throw the food on the ground.
Pretty cool right? That’s not all of the pictures or animals! Gotta leave something for you to experience right?! If you are in the San Antonio, Texas area, make the trip out of town to the Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch! I don’t know if I’ll ever get to go on safari in the wilderness, but this trade sure was a treat!
