Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge is a destination unto itself. Where Star Tours failed to land (pardon the pun) over thirty years ago, Galaxy’s Edge finally lets Star Wars fans touch down on another planet and experience it hands-on. Although one major attraction is not yet finished, there is more than enough to do in Black Spire Outpost. Here is a brief overview of the Galaxy’s Edge experiences and attractions you will find on your next Disney trip.
First Tier
Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run is the ride that puts you in the cockpit of the Millenium Falcon. The attraction seats 6 and each person has a job onboard the ship. There are two pilots. One controls going left or right, while the other controls up and down. There are also two gunners and two engineers. Engineers sit in the back, have the least space and the least comfortable seats. They also have a job that is most distracting from the action. However, they play an important role in the success of the mission. The Height requirement for this ride is 38″.
Another highly anticipated experience is Oga’s Cantina. While technically a lounge, there is so much eye candy here, that you have to stop and look around. From the HyperDrive Engine that powers the establishment to the familiar droid in the DJ booth, Oga’s Cantina is much more than just a watering hole on an outer rim planet. It’s a legitimate experience.
Savi’s Workshop is among the most popular Galaxy’s Edge experiences. This is where you can build your own custom lightsaber for $200. The workshop is a show experience lead by a Gatherer which lasts about 20 minutes and it includes choosing your Kyber crystal and assembling a lightsaber to your own specifications from a selection of four era styles.
Second Tier
After the initial must do Galaxy’s Edge experiences at the top of the list. There are a couple of things in Black Spire Outpost that take you deeper into the immersion of the land. The Droid Depot has a droid building experience, that lets you create your own remote control sidekick to experience Galaxy’s Edge with. The souvenir enhances your visit to Galaxy’s Edge by reacting to the environment according to the personality chip you implant. Droids can also communicate with each other.
Outpost Control is an interactive experience using the Datapad on the Disney Play downloadable app. You can hack into control boxes around Black Spire Outpost and aid either the Resistance or the First Order to gain power and control over the port settlement.
Third Tier
The land is full of immersive experiences and details even in the marketplace shops. As you take it all in, be sure to explore the surroundings and find Easter eggs all over the place. The Creature Stall and Dok Ondar’s Den of Antiquities are especially fun stores to browse in.
