I will never watch ABC’s black-ish the same again. Being in the home of Andre, Bo and the kids was super cool! I had never been on an actual working set before so to see the whole house set up was pretty incredible. If you read my post last week, we got the VIP tour with the Tracee Ellis Ross aka “Bow” took us around and talked to us about the house and her on-screen family. This week I’m taking you back on the set up black-ish and sharing info on tonight’s episode titled, “Stuff.” I attended a press trip with Disney, all statements represent my original thoughts and opinions.
This trip was just incredible ya’ll! I can’t even, it’s been a few weeks since we were there and I still get so excited about all we saw and did! Like I mentioned above I’ve never visited an active set so being on the Disney ABC lot was super thrilling! Watching black-ish I get reminded at how impressive the set is and I got all new images to show you thanks to Kim from TwoKidsandaCoupon.com!
The living room/ den is one of the areas you see a lot of along with the kitchen. I love that they shoot so many scenes there because I know our family spends so much time in our living room and our kitchen. Our bedrooms are truly only for sleeping. In the 15 years we have been married it was only this move that we brought a television into our bedroom. Weird right? It works for us and even having it in there now I can count the times it’s been on, on one hand! Back to the impressive black-ish house!
It’s down to the smallest of details in the Anderson home. It was so cute to find pictures of the cast/family members everywhere. Candid framed snapshots like this one down below in the bathroom. I’d never thought about putting picture frames in the bathroom like this, but why not right?! It’s so cute! One of the very first rooms we walked into was the laundry/mud room. If you see below it looks as lived in as any of our own right? I laughed because I too love a variety of sprays, detergents etc in my laundry room. Looks like Bow and I have a lot in common. 😉
Their bathroom was very impressive though. It’s definitely not your normal bathroom. It’s a huge room to make room for the cameras etc. We all agreed that we’d love to have a bathroom like Andre and Bow’s!
There’s the beautiful dining room. How many awkward conversations have you seen happen in this section of the house? I’m talking about during black-ish! I’m sure like us, you too have odd conversation talk sometimes. Kids!
Speaking of kids, the amazing children that work on black-ish have beautiful set bedrooms and I think it truly reflects on their characters.
Zoey’s room is so colorful and beautiful! Just like her character. Yara Shahidi is such a gorgeous young woman and so sweet!
Andre’s room fits him perfectly too. Sporty yet fashionable. Remember we got to meet Marcus during the Good Dinosaur Interviews, he plays Buck. What a handsome and respectful young man. So polite too.
And those super cute fraternal twins on the show Jack and Diane. Ok so you know I’m the queen of useless information.. has anyone put that together? Or maybe the creators of black-ish threw a nod in to John Mellancamp. “Jack and Diane” song. Now you’ve got the song in your head don’t you?! You’re welcome!! LOL We didn’t get to meet Marsai Martin or Miles Brown, but my friend Staci from 7onaShoestring actually knows Marsai and her family and I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about Marsai and her family. I’ve only seen Miles on television interviews and being the youngest cast member he seems like a true ray of sunshine. Tracee Ellis Ross spoke highly of all of the children and had nothing but sweet things about them on and off the show. Truly an impressive cast of amazing people. I’m so glad that I was a part of this trip!
So about tonight’s episode!!
“Stuff” – Dre thinks Christmas has become commercialized and is all about “stuff,” and no one loves “stuff” more than his kids. Pops and Ruby think they have forgotten the true meaning of Christmas and come up with a new plan to pare down gifts and spend more time together. The kids don’t handle the news well and hope that if they put on their best behavior Dre and Bow will cave in. Meanwhile, Daphne Lido (played by Wanda Sykes), who is single for her first holiday alone, invites herself to the Johnson family home to celebrate with them. “Stuff” was written by Corey Nickerson and directed by Ken Whittingham.
