Cities have always held a particular fascination for travelers, and for good reason. Cities tend to be where everything happens: where history is played out, and where modern-day atmosphere and culture reaches its height. Luckily, given the thousands of different cities dotted across the world, no traveler will ever be without a new metropolis to explore.
Nevertheless, even amongst the variety, there are some cities that have a tendency to stand out more than others; those that can offer particularly unique and interesting experiences to any traveler. Read on for four such cities, all of which we believe every traveler should try to visit at least once…
Tokyo, Japan
Tokyo is, without a doubt, one of the most interesting and quirky cities in the world, and any traveler will delight in the sheer breadth of things to see and do that the city can offer. There are amazing restaurants, a wealth of museums to explore, and stunning historic temples to visit, including Sensō-ji, an ancient Buddhist temple in Taito City; and the experience of looking out over the city from the observation deck of the 634m-tall Tokyo Skytree is one not to be missed.
Las Vegas, USA
Few cities manage to develop a reputation as impressive as Las Vegas’; the city has, over the past century, cultivated a reputation as the ultimate choice for those seeking to let their hair down and delight in the sights, sounds, and bright lights the city can provide. Vegas can, of course, provide a host of amazing experiences, but particular wonders include the chance to party and admire a 360-degree view of the city at the same time by looking for table deals at Apex Social Club, ride famous rollercoasters such as The Big Apple Coaster at the New York-New York Hotel, and – of course – make time to visit as many legendary buffets as possible during your time in the city.
Reykjavik, Iceland
Other cities may claim the plaudits and the “most visited” titles, but the capital of Iceland is a real gem that any keen traveler will want to experience for themselves. Particular delights include the museums and artwork – such as the amazing Sun Voyager sculpture – and the city also serves an excellent base from which to explore the geological wonders of the rest of the country – with the Blue Lagoon a world-famous choice that you won’t want to miss.
London, England
History, culture, fantastic restaurants, amazing museums – London more than justifies its place as a favorite amongst travelers. Trying to narrow down just a few highlights is almost impossible, but there are a few things that make for the quintessential London experience; a flight on the London Eye to see the city from height, a trip to the West End to see the latest shows, and a visit to the Tower of London to learn more about the fortress’ place in English history; all are excellent choices for any visitor and should ensure you have a truly fantastic experience in one of the world’s greatest cities.
