Ok, so I’m not really a music snob, but getting around like we have has definitely opened me up to new sounds, grooves and beats. Now I do sound snobby! LOL I am from the land of George Strait, and don’t get me wrong I love country music just as much as the next Texan. Being Mexican-American the music I grew up listening to the rancheras by Vicente Fernandez to the sweet accordion sounds of Tejano music.
Ah yes, I love Tejano music. My favorites of course the unforgettable Selena, David Lee Garza y Los Musicales and La Voz, Jay Perez. (I wonder if we could be related.. that’s my maiden name..LOL). Being back in Texas, that’s all I listen to now.
I do have to say though my pop loving heart can never be to far from my ultimate faves- Kelly Clarkson, Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, Pink & Lady Gaga. But while in Texas, I want to soak in as much Tejano music as I can while we are here. Truth is, even back home in East Texas the music is more Northern Mexican music, Banda and Norteño, so I’m enjoying listening to Tejano music.

I went to Zumba this afternoon and it brought back memories of being in Tampa from the Bachata/Regeaton music. While we were in Tampa that’s all I listened to along with R&B and Pop music. I didn’t really care for it at first but then I got to really enjoy it and now I can honestly say that it’s one of my favorite genres of music. I also went to a couple musicals while in Tampa, can you say WICKED?! Love love love it! and Musicals also became a new Pandora station.

I can’t really say what type of music I listened to when we were stationed in Ft. Bragg, NC.. I’m thinking a mix of Pop and country here and there.. I guess being a new mom then really limited the noise in my car to just a crying baby. LOL crazy right? Oh, now I remember.. I listened to children’s music! Aramis took Kindermusick while the hubs was deployed and that’s all we listened too. Over and over again.. the CD never stopped. Hey, whatever makes baby happy right?
I can honestly say that thanks to the Army, my choices in music have truly expanded. Could I really say, I’m a music snob? Eh maybe. LOL But I won’t! LOL
Music makes me happy! It takes me places and it also brings me home.
Question:
What’s your favorite Genre of Music?
80’s LOL. I am totally an 80’s music girl. I like pretty much anything except for hardcore rap and country. We don’t do country up here 🙂
Oh yeah.. We love some 80’s music too!! LOL My husband loves him some Hall and Oates! LOL See I figured Country music wouldn’t be too big up there in Mass! LOL Or is it?
I love everything except jazz for some reason I can’t get into that at all. Music takes you to a place where you can escape for a while.
Hmm.. jazz yeah.. I’m not too into it either.
My favorite genre of music are pop, old school R&B and new school. I like some Hip Hop.
Love old school R&B!! I head a Tejano song this morning and could have sworn the base beat was from a New Edition song!! LOL with a different rift of course and played by an accordion!! How about that?! LOL
I am all over the place and depends on my mood and where the music takes me. Right now I have Macklemore, Bruno Mars, Fall Out Boys and Van Halen to name a few… LOL See All over the place.
I love it Anjanette!! Sometimes I just put Pandora on shuffle.. it’s pretty interesting LOL
I listen to a bit of everything – I love gospel, country, bluegrass, hip/hop, a bit of everything except hard rock/metal.
I love music, all types and genres. I have noticed that as I have gotten older that my taste in music has changed. I used to be really picky but I listen to everything these days!
Now you have me wondering what Tejano music sounds like. I’ve probably heard it many times, but didn’t know it by name. I usually listen to what’s on the radio right now, but I still like 90’s alternative too.
Liz have you Googled it yet? Try this website http://www.jaythevoice.com/biography.html
I am a lover of most all music…. Country #1 but then I take it back to Salt and Pepa and then a little bit of Brittany Spears from her early days.. Oh yes… I often wonder if I will be jamming to Creed or Aerosmith while getting old in the nursing home. Not kidding. I think about these things.
You better be jamming out Aimee!! I think a lot of us will!! 🙂
I love it all too. I listen to pop and country the most though.
I’m pretty much into rock and pop music. When I was younger I used to like that fast tempo club music. Now it gives me a headache!
I don’t think I have a favorite. I’m bad at favorites. But, music can totally set the mood for me. Upbeat, classical, fun, etc.
When I was younger it was rock, now that I am older it is a bit of everything. I kinda love all music 🙂
I don’t think I really have a favorite. I kind of like everything. Maybe pop/alternative?
I listen to a little of everything, but I usually keep my satellite radio tuned into the Hits 1 station. So I’d guess my favorite is pop!
I have the CD from Wicked – I bought it at the play! I love it! I am mainly country and classic rock!
I have a lot of favorites, but probably listening to 80’s music is my favorite. Drives my kids batty!
I don’t know that I have a favorite. I guess I have favorites depending on what I’m doing. For instance, when it comes to our summer camping road trips, I like nothing better than some country music driving from place to place. I like all kinds of music though.
Music is like a best friend. I could not survive without it!
My favorite genre of music, hands down no contest, is rock. I love it and can listen all day!
I like a variety of styles of music. One of the most favorite is rock.
i am so all over the place with music. i can do some 80s hair bands and then pop josh groban in and be just as happy. but i love country. sigh.
George Strait is the man! I’ll have to listen to a little Teljano.
Oh I love a little of everything! But nothing is better for cleaning then musicals that you can belt out!
Omg I’m going to have to do that next time I do a deep cleaning.. Musicals for cleaning! LOL
I love Pop music. From Rhianna to Katy Perry to Madonna, Pop is what works for me.
I used to like Selena when I Was much younger, but I listen to a mix of everything nowadays. I really like dance music (even bad 80s), and I find myself listening to country more often than I admit!
I seem to like all types of music (except the real hard rock type)…jazz, blues, pop, country, some rap…I like it all. Thanks for sharing!
I’m a music snob too! 🙂 But I’m not sure I would have it any other way!
I’m a music snob too, I listen to an eclectic variety of music!
I’m def not a music snob 😉 Not very picky either except for hard rock- not a fan!
Haha, I guess Im a music snob too! I enjoy just certain types. I need to expand. lol
I like rock ‘n roll but all of a sudden I am finding I like Kenny Chesney which was a surprise to me.
I pretty much love all types of music! I really just depends on my mood.
I love music too. I don’t have a favorite genre, there’s just too many to love.
I agree Rosey! Way too many!
I also like latin music too, but for me its merengue!! Love to dance to it with my hubby!
You are lucky Chrysa! My husband doesn’t care for dancing 🙁
I listen to everything, but country is my favorite. Please don’t laugh at me!
Omg never Amber! I like Country too 🙂
Country is my favorite. I’ll listen to 80s or 90s sometimes, too.
I agree, I can get really snobby about things I love too.
I love pop, some R&B, jazz and what is now probably considered old school rap. Seriously, my husband does a mean Hot in Here. 🙂
Love old school rap Katie! 🙂
My favorite genre? I still love Top 40 and electronica. Country Music is starting to become one of my favorites though.
It’s so hard to decide on one right!
I don’t think I have a favorite genre. I’m kind of all over the place, and often only like a couple songs off an album. You know what you like, at least 🙂
I love pretty much everything. I mostly listen to Country lately though.
I am not sure if this would be considered Tejano music or not, but I really love Rock Trevino. I also loved Selena.
I love such a wide variety of music that I keep people guessing. Haha! I can do heavy metal, rock, 80’s, 90’s, classical and so many other options. OH old school country, new country, you name it I LOVE IT. What I listen to is dependent upon the mood I am in or trying to get myself in!
