I’m a Music Snob

March 31, 2017 By Candy

Ok, so I’m not really a music snob, but getting around like we have has definitely opened me up to new sounds, grooves and beats. Now I do sound snobby! LOL I am from the land of George Strait, and don’t get me wrong I love country music just as much as the next Texan. Being Mexican-American the music I grew up listening to the rancheras by Vicente Fernandez to the sweet accordion sounds of Tejano music.

MUSIC

I can laugh at myself 🙂

Ah yes, I love Tejano music. My favorites of course the unforgettable Selena, David Lee Garza y Los Musicales and La Voz, Jay Perez. (I wonder if we could be related.. that’s my maiden name..LOL). Being back in Texas, that’s all I listen to now.

I do have to say though my pop loving heart can never be to far from my ultimate faves- Kelly Clarkson, Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, Pink & Lady Gaga. But while in Texas, I want to soak in as much Tejano music as I can while we are here. Truth is, even back home in East Texas the music is more Northern Mexican music, Banda and Norteño, so I’m enjoying listening to Tejano music.

I went to Zumba this afternoon and it brought back memories of being in Tampa from the Bachata/Regeaton music. While we were in Tampa that’s all I listened to along with R&B and Pop music. I didn’t really care for it at first but then I got to really enjoy it and now I can honestly say that it’s one of my favorite genres of music. I also went to a couple musicals while in Tampa, can you say WICKED?! Love love love it! and Musicals also became a new Pandora station.

I can’t really say what type of music I listened to when we were stationed in Ft. Bragg, NC.. I’m thinking a mix of Pop and country here and there.. I guess being a new mom then really limited the noise in my car to just a crying baby. LOL crazy right? Oh, now I remember.. I listened to children’s music! Aramis took Kindermusick while the hubs was deployed and that’s all we listened too. Over and over again.. the CD never stopped.  Hey, whatever makes baby happy right?

I can honestly say that thanks to the Army, my choices in music have truly expanded. Could I really say, I’m a music snob? Eh maybe. LOL But I won’t! LOL

Music makes me happy! It takes me places and it also brings me home.

Question:

What’s your favorite Genre of Music?

80’s LOL. I am totally an 80’s music girl. I like pretty much anything except for hardcore rap and country. We don’t do country up here 🙂

I love everything except jazz for some reason I can’t get into that at all. Music takes you to a place where you can escape for a while.

I love music, all types and genres. I have noticed that as I have gotten older that my taste in music has changed. I used to be really picky but I listen to everything these days!

Now you have me wondering what Tejano music sounds like. I’ve probably heard it many times, but didn’t know it by name. I usually listen to what’s on the radio right now, but I still like 90’s alternative too.

I am a lover of most all music…. Country #1 but then I take it back to Salt and Pepa and then a little bit of Brittany Spears from her early days.. Oh yes… I often wonder if I will be jamming to Creed or Aerosmith while getting old in the nursing home. Not kidding. I think about these things.
