Why You Should Read The Girl He Used To Know #ReadTheGirl AD

March 29, 2019 By Candy

It’s been some time since I held a book in my hands and read it. Truth be told I’ve been listening to them lately. If you are like me, there’s just something about holding a book in your hands and really reading it. Here’s why you should read The Girl He Used to Know by New York Times Bestselling Author Tracey Garvis Graves. Thanks to the partnership with SheSpeaks, I received an advanced edition.

Reading Time

I wasn’t sure what I was expecting from The Girl He Used to Know. I knew I would give it a chance and I have to say that I truly enjoyed it. It kept me engaged so much that I had a daily reading time assigned first thing in the morning. I really enjoyed that time too, if you are struggling to get back into reading set some time aside each day. I actually finished the book on the flight back from Nashville. I’m so glad I took it with me, so many times I’ve taken books on trips and never even crack the spine. I was almost tempted to leave it on the plane with a note so another person could enjoy it as much as I did. But I didn’t, I kept it. I’m going to treasure it.

The Characters

The characters were very endearing. I feel like Graves gave us enough about them to feel like as you read the story you also feel their feelings. The two main characters are a woman named Annika and a man named Jonathon. I really loved the format of the book as it tells both of their stories from their own point of view. Truly genius. You’ll fall in love with the characters and root for them as the story progresses.

The Timeline

The timeline is very special. Make sure to keep track of the years and days with each passing chapter.  The story starts August 2001 and flashes back to 1991. Keeping up with the dates will really make you feel like you are going through the story with the characters. It’s tragicly heartbreaking at times, but never loose hope. I think it was expertly written and very in tune with the time.

Get Your Copy April 2nd!

Yes, The Girl He Used to Know will be on sale Tuesday, April 2nd! If you love a good story of love and overcoming, this is the book for you. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on it. I just know you are going to LOVE it!

Cheers!
