On January 23, 2006 I realized I was pregnant, eight months later I became a mother to a beautiful baby boy. Life as a mother has been one of the most rewarding experiences in my life. It took us five long years to conceive and when we did it was like we’d won the lotto. Welcoming our beautiful baby boy home we wanted to shower him with all of our love and only the best. But what do our kids think about us as Moms? Are we doing a good job? I received a special message for Mother’s Day from my boys and I want to share it with you.
As a new mom my first go, and my second actually (the boys are five years a part, so each birth was like the first time- kinda) I always wondered if I was doing a good job, hell I still wonder. The smiles, the hugs, the “mommy I love you” help a lot. But you know what, like any other mother I still wonder.
As a fun game I told my oldest, Aramis that I had some questions for him. We received his three week school report this week so I told him that this was mommy’s report. Here’s how my report went per Aramis. Because you know, it’s always nice to hear #YoureDoingOKMom.
I took him out to dinner and we had a Mommy & Son date and we chatted on my mom report card.
Me: Ok Aramis, tell me how you think mommy is doing.
Aramis: I think you are doing ok.
Me: Ok, like how?
Aramis: You cook delicious food and we have lots of fun together
Me: What’s your favorite thing to do with mommy?
Aramis: I love it when we have fun! I love going to the movies and going on dates with you mommy. I love you, you’re the best mom I’ve got.
Me: I’m the only mom you’ve got silly!
Aramis: Well I know, but you’re the best! and I love you so much!
That’s all he has to tell me and I know, I’m doing a good job. Ezra is younger and we are working on his speech so by him coming up to me out of no where and hugging my leg or sneaking a kiss is him telling me #YoureDoingOkMom and life as we know it is completely perfect. Thanks Ezra!
Have you caught the super sweet video by Johnson & Johnson? You should know by now that I am a crier. I’m a champ at crying during sad and romantic movies, when I first saw the Johnson & Johnson #YoureDoingOkMom video, you know the waterworks was going. But that’s not the whole gist of the video to just show tender moments between a mom and her child. By viewing the video you can do a lot of good!
“As an extension of this promise, for every view of the “You’re Doing OK, Mom” video between now and Mother’s Day, JOHNSON’S® Baby will donate $1 to Save the Children®, up to $50,000.” What are you waiting for? Give this heartwarming video a look and share it on your Facebook page with your fellow moms. I’m not going to lie, it totally made me cry. The “Save the Children® is an organization that gives children around the world a healthy start, the opportunity to learn, and protection from harm,” our babies had a chance, lets’ give others one too! Watch the video, but grab the tissues first!
Wishing all the Mom’s an amazing Mother’s Day! And don’t worry, I’m sure #YoureDoingOk 😉
Question:
