How’s it going with you? Are you feeling motivated for this week’s Motivation Monday?
I sure hope so! Last week was amazing! Got out and go moving- worked out at home (I know SURPRISE!) and had a great week. This week I hope to continue to stay moving. I think I walked/ran a total of 10 miles- not to mention my daily steps. Yeah I got around this week! A big difference from weeks past. I haven’t committed to running any races as of yet, but I’m hopeful to get some trail running in this week. There are some trail races here in San Angelo, that I hope to get into. When I think of trail running, honestly I think of biting the dust. I’m not normally clumsy- but with the added change of terrain and limbs, grass and everything else on trails I think it could be a little dangerous. But who doesn’t need a little danger in their life right? Hopefully my co-walker/runner Leanne will agree to go off the paved road and trip and fall come with me.
So back to the danger part of these runs.. check this out!
Not only will we be running into limbs and dirt there’s animals too! As a matter of fact after we were done with our walk/run we saw a whole family of deer! It was quite amazing. I think it’s always neat to see an animal in it’s natural habitat. I’ve had the pleasure of seeing, orca whales, deer of course, dolphins and other little furry animals, so cool!
Anyways so back to the running. I’m glad to be getting back into it and giving it 100%.
Question:
Have you ever gone trail running?

I have never been trail running unless you count the first 5k I ever did at the high school where we ran through the rural landscape. It was raining, and we went through the woods. Does that count? 🙂

I like trail runs but tend to not do so well every time I see a raccoon, alligator or hear a noise I stop

Beware of dangerous wildlife?! Eek!
We live next to an arboretum with trails, and I *LOVE* running on them. It’s so much fun, and I love the scenery. Enjoy!

I’ve walked some trails, but never ran them. I bet it would be pretty and keep me motivated though it. Your trails scare me though, I’m all set on “dangerous wildlife”! Eeeeep!

I love trail running and you are right that it is a much different beast than road. You need to pay more attention because the terrain is uneven and there may be climbing involve (at least where I run near where I live). Have fun with it though – I find it more rewarding.

Thats so exciting. I think it is a good thing to take a detour with your normal workouts and give your body something new to work with. I have never done trail runs. I usually always walk trails because I am clumsy and would fall probably about a billion times 🙂 Good luck with everything
